Houston, Texas native, Jake Ballis, has had a passion for horse racing from a young age. Jake  grew up attending races with his father, who owned several great horses, including, Eclipse  Champion Sprinter and Millionaire, Groovy.

After finishing college at the University of Houston, where he played college basketball, Jake yearned for a way to get his family re-involved in the sport he grew up loving. A few years later, Jake would purchase his first horse, Join In The Dance, and take his family on a ride of their lives to the Kentucky Derby. Join In The Dance finished 7th in the derby that year but went on to earn close to $450,000.

Other notable horses Jake has purchased include: Cigar Street, a Breeder’s Cup Classic contender and earner of close to $300,000; White Rose, a track record setter and multiple graded stakes winner with over $550,000 in earnings; Race Day, a multiple graded stakes winner of $750,000 and now stands at stud at the prestigious Spendthrift Farm in Lexington, Kentucky.
